Contract review — first pass in under a minute.

A first-pass legal review that flags the clauses that matter — auto-renewal, liability caps, indemnities, notice periods — and surfaces them in a reviewer-friendly panel with the source text one click away.

Contract review — first pass in under a minute.

Contract review is the class of task AI is unusually good at — provided the eval discipline is real. The demo shows the pattern; the harder part in production is the fixture set that keeps quality honest as templates evolve.

We do this work on the client’s own template positions, not a generic “what a good contract looks like” model. That’s what makes the flagging useful instead of noisy.

The pattern

What the walkthrough shows.

  1. Ingest and canonicalise.

PDF, DOCX, or scanned contract in; a canonical, section-aware document out. Structure is preserved — sections, clauses, definitions — because retrieval later needs to know where something came from.

  2. Extract the clauses that matter.

A curated set of extraction targets — auto-renewal, liability cap, indemnity, notice period, jurisdiction, assignment. Each target has a fixture set and a regression bar in CI.

  3. Flag the exceptions.

Compared against the reviewer's own template positions. Anything that deviates gets flagged with the source clause highlighted. Ordinary boilerplate passes through silently.

  4. Reviewer panel.

Every flagged clause opens the original text alongside the model's read. Approve, edit, or override with a note. Ownership of the decision stays with the reviewer.
